I got the price for the 2010 Honda Fury. It's around $13,000. What do you guys think of the price? Is it to much?

$4000 more then the VTX 1300 its based on...... personally I think it would make a great USED bike but Im just a cheap bastard.... on a side note though while checking the honda site I noticed they no longer show the 1100's at all. Wonder if they will discontinue them.... AND it looks like the DN-01 is now in full production and on sale now! I might need to take a ride to the big dealer this weekend and check that out. I dont want one but the new drive system sounds "interesting", wonder what it would be like to drive an automatic motorcycle....

I just dont like the shaft drive on the fury. you got a bike that looks like a chopper but you are limited on what you can do to it. The same problem I have with my c2.

I've been involved in the car / bike show scene for a number of years, so I think I'm qualified to comment on this; If you are not competing at the highest levels (ISCA etc) then it doesn't matter how nice your ride is, you have a very limited chance of winning, here's why, most "local" shows are put on by a club, (the host club) and in most cases the show is little more than a way for the club to recognize it's own members, "Joe, you got the trophy last month, so this month we'll give it to Bob"; I no longer "compete" in club sponsored local shows, for that very reason; I've entered vehicles in club shows and lost to very minimally customized vehicles, and the following week entered a different show and the vehicle that beat me the week before didn't even qualify for judging!
Bottom line is; if you're gonna enter a show with the hope of competing, make sure that it will be judged by qualified impartial "paid' judges, and not members of the host club, but if you just want to show your ride for the fun of it, then ignore the judging.

Agreed! I couldn't give a flyin fuck what anybody thinks of my stuff, in fact I've never entered the WANNA B in a show of any kind, but a lot of the stuff that I've painted or built for customers goes on the show scene.

Ya, the cookie cutter HD's are just that, all the same. I got my Shadow because I liked the look better, 21 front wheel, stock exhaust looks better, plus liked the idea of liquid cooled engine vs air cooled since I am in AZ. I could have gotten a Harley with the same basic look, but that would have been another $8,000 plus, I paid $5,000 for mine. Just can't see paying so much when I can achieve what I want and like for so much less.

As for the new Fury, I like it. It looks pretty good, only would need a few mods from me to get it looking better, but way too over priced. I thought Honda would get this new "chopper" right on the price, but I guess I am wrong.

There is so much wrong with that bike, the first and foremost being that Honda appears to want to turn into Harley. Next their product will go for a shit, then they'll sell the company to a bowling pin manufacturer, then Willie G. Honda will try to resurrect it by selling clothing and leathers, they'll get some cash-flow and make bikes again but overprice them (even though they maintain the same design flaws as the Fury) and call them "American Legends" (even though they'll be made in Mexico, Canada and Japan) and every dentist, lawyer, stockbroker and wanna-be weekend tough guy will want to buy one.

and since i've owned 3 harleys and 3 hondas, i am proud of honda for atleast trying to compete with long time played out custom scene.

all in all, i'll keep my little bobber,besides i've only got about 1600. in her total.

and yes i will be entering it a certain bike show this year. but i like that shit.

I actually like the look and the idea behind the fury, that said I think they missed the boat on the model....now that the SS750 for example is so heavily modded why buy this stock setup. Also, that shaft drive is killing it.....needs a belt or at very least a chain drive.

As for Harley comparison, I dont think they are trying to mimick HD at all...nothing about resembles HD in my eyes..I dont see a model that resembles it.

Let's get ne thing straight, i check in on this site allmost on a daily basis, I may not log in and post but i am here. I enjoy looking at the mods and get a lot of ideas for my own mods from this site. As you can see from my pics my bike is hardly stock and i have done all my mods myself and they are not all bolt on ,ods or Harley parts. my next mod is to put a wide glide front end with a 3 degree rake and 41 mm forks. I spent approximately 6 hrs buffing my forks to look like chrome, i could have easily bought a set of chrome sliders but perfered to do it myself. I could also chop my rear fender and put a spring solo seat but that's not what I want my ride to look like. I hope everyone enjoys their own rides but stop bashing Sportsters because they are an awesome bike, in my opion they are the purest bike Harley Davidson makes. Solid lines, fast as hell and fun to ride in the twisties. i can gayrantee you that the the sportster handles better in the twisties than the Shadow hands down, I should know since I owned a Shadow for years and can compare the two from being able to ride both to the max. So just please stop bashing Sporties, they have really come along way in the past few years.

Ya, 750cc does seem a little small. However, yesterday I had three HD's, one Touring, and 2 Softtail something or anothers. They all pulled up next to me and when the light turned we all gunned it. Surprisingly the Touring couldn't keep up with us and fell behind, the other two were never able to pull away from me until I let off the gas after hitting 60 in the 40 mph. First time I have ever been able to test my "power" like that against other bikes, and I was told that the shaft drive was the worst for getting enough power for that sort of thing, go figure. :rolleyes3

Cruiser: way too small
Sport Bike: way too slow (gimme a break!)
If your gonna compare your little sister's Sportster to any other bike, do your homework, it just DOES NOT stack up against anything else, sure it's a better sport bike than the Shadow is, but then again, neither of them is a sport bike, and for you to imply that your sportster is a sport bike is just plain fucking stupid!

To be honest Beaker I think the majority of Harley riders are dicks, I have my group of friends and have met quite a few of nice people who ride Harleys, but for the most part most scum bag riders ride Harleys, very rarely do you meet a scum bag that rides a Jap bike. I am not a scum bag nor a poser. I have put 40,000 kilometers on my bike in the past 2 1/2 years, and with no break dowms except for a broken belt which was probably caused by removing my belt guard.

I checked out the Fury yesterday. It looks pretty good, feels good in the seat. Overall it is a nice bike. I would not purchase it new unless I had no concern about money. $12999 was the list price, that is about $7,000 more than I paid for my C2! I could get ALL my upgrades/mods done and still have thousands left over of the $7,000. I did get a nice brochure on the Fury, some of the pics where very stupid, don't even have the bike in those pics, go figure.

Absolutly, that is what I was telling my wife yesterday. Either the rear fender/tire needs to be thinner or the tank wider. Plus I don't like the way the rear fender sets so high off the tire. Over priced for what you get. I think the general concept is good, just not designed/put together well.

Haha, that is exactly what I said the Steve the salesman. I told him there is no way my 178lbs could get the rear slammed enough for a nicer look. Funny thing is (since you mentioned a 400lb person) there was a 300lbs guy there getting his first bike, 06 Aero, great choice.

There is just SO much wrong with this bike... As usual, you're on the money Apache, with your '80's comment: the wheels, shaft drive, proportion and overall styling remind me of the Virago's, Intruder's, and AMF-era Harley's that were marketed as "choppers". The overall styling is totally off the mark. The rear fender looks like a boat, the tank and bars are way strange, the motor looks like the plastic one on a 4yr old's rechargeable chopper, those side covers that blend into the engine cases look like something built by Mattel, the seat probably is from a boat (along with the sigs) and all that air between the front cyl/frame/tank does NOT make it look chopped. It is simply butt ugly. They should've kept (maybe even expanded) the DC as it's a better platform.

No war from me. I just think the bike is badly (if at all) thought out. I'm not totally hung up on the Spirit either. Vulcan, Nomad, Marauder, V Star, and several others, are all better bikes than the Fury, that is so obviously aimed at the RUB's. JMO.

I know, I know, most of you have ridden the bikes you compare to the spirit and so you have atleast some grounds to make a comparison.......but has anyone ridden the fury? This is just like the situation that happened to me last night. I have a shirt that has the word fuck on it, because I wore that shirt, a man said I was a bad father and that my kids would grow up just like me. Don't judge me by a shirt i wear, or judge a bike by how it looks, judge me by other means and judge the bike by how it rides and also, that it does come from a reputable company that is known for making some long lasting, well built products. Oh, and told the guy that id be damned proud if my kids grew up just like thier dad and if he didnt like my shirt, to sit some where else.

I saw it in person and was a little disapointed. It's too small and very un-extreem. Like you said I would by it used for $5000 as my third or forth bike to mod on.

I think it looks pretty sharp and like the fact that honda made it. Hope they do well with it and bring more over from the dark side. I'm sure it will run for many years and we will have a chance to buy them used when they are 10+ years old

I think you have to judge every bike by it's look first, if you don't like it, you won't buy it, but if you like the looks, then you will ride it, and if you like the looks, but not the ride, you may or may not buy it, but your first impression will always be made based on the looks of the bike; I personnaly don't like the looks of the Fury, it may be the nicest riding bike ever built, but I'll never know, because I dislike the looks enough to keep me off of it.
Personally I like all types of bikes, I ride a Shadow, but I am also considering a sport bike, and I ride a dirt bike, I don't bash everything that isn't a Shadow, but I know what I don't like!
But that's just me.
