Ya, that's right I did. I wanted to check out the new 883 Iron. Some of the features look good and I wanted to get a closer look. Plus I like their Rocker model and want to check that out close. I told the sales mananger to not waste his time on me, told him what I was doing there and what I rode, he told me his Honda was in the back parking lot! Funny stuff, he said that of course everyone gives him crap about it, go figure.

No one there gave me crap about my Shadow like I thought they would. Two guys pulled up and parked next to me and loved my bike.

I have only had 2 people scoff at me when I told them I ride a Honda and not a Harley. The last guy was last week, he came into my work. While we were talking he says "is that your Shadow?", I said ya, then he let out a "ha". I asked if he rode and he said with a Hollier than Thou "ya, a <1981 something or another that I had no idea what it was>, found out after a few more questions that it is a Harley when he said "I have a Harley". I then asked "you want a cookie, and since I don't have any cookies how about a pat on the back!" His woman started laughing which just pissed this guy off, he then told me that is bike is real fast and would "waste mine". I asked if he rode it in....found out it is broken down in his garage!

I like Harleys. I ride a Honda. I like Honda's too. Harley's got a huge following, but whats the fun of being in the "in crowd" anyways? Isn't the purpose of riding a bike to be outside the norm?

Whatever you ride, enjoy it. And let the haters hate, fuck em.

Yeah, I stopped by a Harley shop last weekend when I hit PG. Just had to check out the Rockers, the Iron and some others..... they had a Cross Bones in. Kinda cool.... the V-Rod is ehhh, ok. Didn't see a whole lot I needed, except for the one Rocker C. I almost fell in love till I fliped the price tag. The salesman, said, Yeah, It's only 26 grand and I could get you a deal. I looked at him and said, for that price I could put almost 20 grand into my bike and have something one off..... I think I will pass.

Oh ya, I would like tp get a set of curved pipes like that someday when I have more money to spend. I am just glad my stock pipes look good unlike the stock ugly Harley!

I raced a few HD's on my SS750. When we got to light they where shocked to find out it was a 750 and a Honda. My Shovel a lot faster than the 750 off the line and from stop light to stop light. A few guys on this board traded in their 750's for HD's. They have all been happy with their trade. None of them are snobs to Honda guys. RUBS are the only ones who act that way. Or insecure Honda guys on the other side.

When I ride to work, I park my bike next to my boss's bike. He may ride either his Ducati or his Triumph. Next to him is another guys Harley, beside that is another Harley. Next to show up is a guy on his Yamaha. One more will be joining the parking lot this summer for sure, maybe two. We will need a bigger bike parking spot. And not sure if it counts, but another guy puts in on his Scooter and parks it by the Harleys.... LOL It's a smorg of bikes out there and no one disses the others, except me and one Harley guy. But we knock each other about everything, just the way we are. I'd still knock his bike if he bought a Honda.

I remember once when I was at a gas station many years ago, this guy rode up to the pump behind me. The bike looked really rough, not shiny, it was really nice. I remebered the "wow" feeling when after I asked what it was and he told me a Shadow. He actually bought it salvage, I still remember the small dent on the front of the tank.

All my friends who ride HD's love my bike. Especially after they found how much I paid for it. You get a helluva lot of bike for your money.

Oh ya, HD's are waayy $$$ too much. They are nice but need to bring their prices down. I don't ever see that happening since Harley is the ultimate image for bikes. All my nephews and neices think I ride a POS since it is not a Harley, they are like 10 years old and don't know jack, I am trying to educate them. Infact, I am about to become anti'Harley here soon because I am so sick and tired of HD riders and others always say to me "why didn't you get a Harley", I'll just start repling "cuz their over price pieces of shit!" :furious2: :furious2: Perhaps I will cool off a little in a bit, just got back after being in traffic for over an hour and a half (didn't ride my bike today). Maybe someone will start with me tomorrow when I go to the HD dealership to register for AZ Bike Week kick off 234 mile ride.

Don't let it get to you. When people seen or heard my Shadow they thought it was a HD. When they found out it was not, some got mad and said shitty things! Because they thought it was cool. And in their narrow minds a Honda can not be that cool. I sold the Honda and got an old Harley. Because, That is what I always wanted. I still love SS750's and am still a mod on this site and a longtime member at another SS750 site. Who cares what posers and RUBS think? Why not call them on their shit? "Why don't you get a Harley?" If I had to tell you, you would not understand. Is a great one! Or they are nice, but I don't want anybody to think I am a RUB. Or, bikes are about indaviguality and that crowd is not. They are all the same! In truth some are not. All my friends that ride HD, built their own and owned a lot of Honda's prior.

Last summer my brother (he has a Marauder) and I were out for a long ride. We stopped for coffee and a smoke and were standing in the lot beside our bikes talking. This grubby dude pulls in on an older HD with "Support The Big Red Machine" and other HA stickers all over it and his helmet. I think, "Great. Nice Saturday morning and here we go...". He gets off his bike and says, "What the HELL are those?!" My bro, being more than a little self depracating, says, "Aw, they're just Jap scrap." The guy says, "They got two wheels and a motor! Who cares who made them! They look great too!". We shot the shit with the guy for a while and hit the road again. Moral of the story: A REAL biker won't give you shit over what brand you ride, as long as you ride. The others spend more time reading magazines about riding than they do in the saddle. My .02.

Figure I would add to this existing thread.

I took a little longer lunch today and stopped in at the Victory dealer by my work to get a close look. They were clearing out some 09's for as low as $10,999! I spoke with the sales manager for a bit, told him I wouldn't be buying and just wanted to look. Of course he has me sit on nearly every bike (must have thought I had money since I wear a suit to work, when I drive the car).

Everyday I go to work, I park with a Shadow 1100, a M109 Suzy, a HD Dyna, HD Street Glide, 2 V-Rods, 2 Raiders, a Warrior, a VStar 650, a Enduro On/Off Mutt bike, and even an old $1000 Rat Rod. We all respect each other and each bike.
Then, walk inside to custom Venture, BMW K1200 & R1150 & R1200C, HD Ultra, Vulcan 1600, GL1800, GL1800 Quad, ZX-14 HP, Busa, Triumph Rocket III, Can Am Spyder, and other "guests" at times. Like workin at the big boy north pole and gettin paid. What a deal. Get to work with techs and clients there and all over the US, Canada, and abroad. I can honestly say what I've seen is exactly as Beaker put it in an earlier post from March. A true Bike enthusiast is passionate about bikes in general, not a model. sure, they have their personal preferences and are loyal. They also love bikes and share mutual respect for those who own, ride, and feel the same. Its an awesome passion and even better when it's a payin gig too.
