Does is say "energy conserving" or anything like that on it? If it does.....it won't work with the wet clutch on the shadows.

I use the Mobile 1 red cap. I believe it's 15w-50. Never had a problem and have been using it for over 5,000 miles. Bike runs great with it.

You wont want to keep using the Mobil 1 Redcap. They have changed it and the Redcap now has Energy Conservation on the label. There is an equivalent oil, I cant remember which it is, but if you look at the label, its easy enough to find.
I've been using the Mobil 1 up 'til now too, since my first oilchange, and its worked like a charm in my '03 Spirit 750. Figures they'd screw up a good thing.

When did they go and do that? I've been running Mobil 1 redcap for the last couple of years.
I guess I should buy up some of the stuff they have on the shelf here.
I just sufed over to the mobil website and yeah, it's been discontinued. Doesn't look good, couldn't find energy conserving on there. But it does look that way, it's designed for extended use.

Mobil1 V-twin 20-50
Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50 is recommended for four-cycle motorcycles that specify the use of a 20W-50 engine oil. It provides excellent performance in motorcycle engines that are designed with a common engine/transmission lubrication system or where the engine lubrication system is separate from the transmission system. In the case of the latter, follow the manufacturer's recommendation for the type of fluid to be used in the transmission. Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50 engine oil is also designed to provide the proper frictional characteristics necessary for wet-clutch engine/transmission systems. Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50 exceeds the requirements of API Service Categories SH, SG/CF, CD and has been fully tested, both on laboratory dynamometers and in the field, to provide optimum horsepower and acceleration.
Sounds like it should work.

Man, that sucks. Luckily I still have a couple quarts sitting around. The bike really seemed to like that stuff too. I was wondering why I couldn't find it on Mobil 1's website.

I switched the Mobil 1 MX4T synthetic last year and have had no problems. I did it the same time that I put the kevlar clutch in. That's in my V-4 Magna and my shift point is up near 9500.

The rev limiter is in place to protect the engine from over revving it. The V twin engines red line is near 8000. At least that's what I've seen the tachs at. If you spin it too fast something is gonna break.
