I'm gonna tell on myself. I've had my bike torn apart for the last couple of weeks, got the tank and fenders painted black, installed a Cobra II light. Anticipating when I could go back together with everything, waiting for the painter to get done, the adapter to come from Reno, went ahead and did the bulb upgrade to the light. Anyway, yesterday was the day. Put it all back together, (the back fender reinstall was a bitch), sat on the seat, turned on the key and checked the light and blinkers, everything working, crank it up, feeling good man. Turn off the key, lean down to look at something I don't even remember now, and down we go! Forgot the kickstand was up. FUCK!!! Luckily, I was on carpet, but I still got a small dent and 1" scratch on the tank. Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself.

Dude, sorry to hear that.No sense in beatin your self up about it.We all have or have done something such as that and if someone says they haven`t then your time is coming. The only way you can not do that is to constantly sit on the couch and avoid life in general.

It's funny now, since the guy that painted it said he would fix the dent and repaint it for free.....After he got through laughing! I sure could have kicked my own ass last night though.

shortly after one of the fifty times I painted the WANNA-B, I set the tank on the hood of a truck that was in the shop and turned around to grab the mount bolt when I heard the unmistakable sound of my gas tank sliding off of the hood onto the floor; I invented a couple of new cuss words that day!!

Don't beat yourself up too bad for one "Oh Shit" moment. Like Firefighter said, we all have 'em. Glad to hear your paint guy is gonna hook you up.

thats a good one Raymo....I pulled one one year about a week after I'd bought my SS, My wife already had her VLX, anyway we got up one morning with the intention of going for a ride up to the Blueridge Parkway, we got on our bikes fired em up and I tipped mine up to the go position and "Holy Shit" I forgot that I'd locked the forks and meanwhile I'd just grabbed a handfull of throttle and had let out the clutch and went right into a nose dive spin.....I looked up the drive way at my wife who was doing all she could not to fall off her bike over laughing and trying not to show it.......talk about feeling like "Joe Shit The Ragman"......
To this day I have never locked my forks again.

Oh man! I almost do that EVERY TIME I lock the forks! Luckily it usually happens when I've parked it overnight and its nose in, so I realize it as soon as I try to wheel it backwards (turn it off, unlock the forks, start it again, gee guys, don't I look cool? Ya Beak, don't forget to put the kickstand up!).

Almost dropped the bike on monday right in front of the landlords house! I of course forgot to unlock the bars, but at least I didn't try to rocket away. I'm sure I looked funny though!

Since were tellin stories,i have one and turned out pretty good considering.Just put my pipes on and wanted to go for a lil spin around the block.Daughter was riding her four wheeler around the yard.I thought she was gonna be ok while i was making a short trip(can still see her and the house)around the block. She seen me on the bike and immediately came to me on her four wheeler and asked what i was doin.Told her blah, blah, and she said she wanted to go. she said she wanted to ride her four wheeler with me.I only let her ride on the road when i`m with her.Not a big deal right?I told her where to ride and to stay in front of me and to watch traffic. She said ok and then nailed the throttle, running right into the ass end of the bike. She wedged the front tire between the pipes and my rear tire.I was scared and pissed off at the same time,I jumped off the bike to see if she was all right and came about 3/4 of the way to laying her down(since i didn`t put the stand down)All and all,She didn`t get hurt and only bent her tie rod on her four wheeler.Just goes to show how easy things happen(I`m pretty sure she learned a lesson that day.I think she was more concerned with damage to the bike than i.)
