When I bought my 99 ACE it had Cobra Shotgun pipes. The tips were in bad shape and pitted like swiss cheese. So, I recently replaced them with two different length slash-cut 3A Racing Chrome tips that I modified. I kept the Cobra heat shields which I will rechrome locally soon. Using my Dremel I got for Christmas, I split three ways two each 2 1/4 ID X 1 7/8 OD exhaust adapters and painted them with black flameproof paint. Used the Dremel to cut the baffles out of the old shotgun pipes down to 6 " in length and they fit inside the adapters. I secured them with stainless metal screws repainted the baffles. I cut the flanges of the chrome tips and sanded them even with and orbiting sander. Polished the bare metal and painted. Secured them to the adapters with three more screws each and painted the inside walls black. I debated whether to have the slashcuts facing out or down and settled on down. Clamped the split end of the adapters down and BAM. I think they look great and they rumble.

They used to sound like an old woman who smokes...now they sound like a man with softballs for gonads. Not quite as loud as unbaffled short pipes but I like my neighbors and wanted to keep them as friends.

I was worried they were going to look cheap but they turned out looking pretty good.

Very nice. They look like they came from the factory. I bet they sound good!
