Came across this forum and it seems like there a lot of knowledgeable people here, so thought I would try my question.
I recently installed some ape hangers on my '99 ACE 750. After this mod, I started thinking that a tank mounted speedometer would look better. From what I can tell, the instrument cluster and speedometer from a '01-'03 should fit on my '99 tank, but I am not sure about my options with the '01-'03 speedometer having a digital input, and my '99 being a mechanical cable. Anyone does this mod or have any ideas?
Thanks

It's been done, go to www.sa750.com (http://www.sa750.com) and look under modifications, pretty easy to do but you do need to fab up some mounting tabs for the front of the speedo housing and get the wiring for the pick up...

I have all of the parts coming. Someone on Ace of Spades directed me to that same write up. It looks like a pretty comprehensive write up that Hollywood did. Hopefully I will have all of the parts soon to get going.

I know its been a long time, but now that the weather is getting nice, I have been out riding and loving the new mod. Pics are in my gallery.
I have one issue though, every time I turn the bike off my tripometer resets, but the odometer keeps its info. Any ideas? I would assume that on factory installed tank mounted speedometers that the tripometer keeps its mileage when you turn the bike off so that you can keep track of when to fill up again.

Does anyone have the schematics/wiring diagram for a '01 - '03 750 ACE, specifically for the tank mounted speedometer, that they could post for me? I am trying to compare what I did to what the factory has to see why my tripometer resets everytime I turn off my bike. I am assuming that it has something to do with needing a wire connected that is always hot.
Thanks

The address that I used to have has disappeared. I need to find it again so that I can compare how I wired mine up vs. what the schematics are for and '01 - '03. So far no luck.

I got it fixed. The new wire that is run that is only hot when the ignition is on needs to be hot all the time.
