Can someone please measure their tag and tell me how wide it is? I'm looking at different ammo cans and need to know how wide it needs to be since the tag will be going on one of them. Thanks!

Hey MrRngr, I was in a local surplus store and was checking out some ammo boxes, but they all looked a little small to use as saddle bags. Is there a specific one that is close to a regular saddlebag in size? I've got upswept pipes, so I was thinking I could go smaller on the right and a bigger one on the left. Thanks.

They have all kinds of sizes, but the thing to remember is the bigger the can the more weight on the ass end, and the harder it will be to make mounting brackets. The ones I'm looking at are for 20mm, 30mm, and 40mm. They're about 14.5" tall x 9" wide x 17.5" long and weigh about 25lbs each.
Here's a couple of mounting ideas I came up with in MS Paint.

Soon as I saw it, I knew it from somewhere too! Sold my Jeep a couple of years ago.
Good plans for the brackets MrRngr.
I was thinking about using smaller cans, and for mounting; replacing the fender strut bolts with hollow/threaded rod so a bolt could be run through (or maybe even a Zeuss clip?) the rod and into the can to secure it. Safe and sound when there's a lock on it and easy to remove when bags aren't needed. Basically a rip off of HD or Ghost Brackets. Would probably have to reinforce the backside of the box. Thoughts?

I was playing around with the same idea with the clips, but I probably won't need to take the cans off since mine will have my tail lights on them. I'll come up with more ideas when I'm home and in front of the bike. Right now I'm having to do everything by pictures.

I'm trying. lol I should be leaving here in 6 days, but that's changed. Shouldn't be too much longer though.
I wonder if the flatter fender rails from other Shadows would fit. That way I'd have a smaller gap between the fender and cans. I hate that gap.

Damn man, I'm leaving for the sandbox in 10 days. Guess we'll have to get that beer when I get back.

at the Died?
I'm supposed to be there the 15th, but I think I'll be there before then.
I suppose I should get to putting the bike away for the year, huh?

Enjoy it for all you can! You not gonna be riding for the next twelve months.
I'll be leaving before you get there, but not by much
