Hey guys, been searching for a half hour now and have had no luck. I thought I remembered reading somewhere to lower he front end you could just shorten the spacer or replace with shorter piece of PVC? Has anyone lowered theres this way and if so how small did you make the spacer and what was the difference? Waiting on rear shocks to get back from SOTMC.com right now but would like to go ahead and lower front while on stand.

Thanks
Chris

Chris I saw it to and did it myself you need to get 1" pvc and cut it 1 1/2" shorter than the sleeves that come out of your forks. works good i have 9.5" struts on mine and it leveled it out nice.

I am having my shocks shortened by 2.25" so you think 1.5 off the spacers would be too low?

The shocks will leave me at 9 3/4" on the shocks. I removed everything under the fender and customized the fender mounts.

Chris It should be fine i don't think a 1/4" will make any difference.send in some pics when you get done we would like to see it.

I've had my front as low as 3 inches under stock to 1 inch over since I've owned mine. Lower looks cool, but ya loose alot of fork travel. Too low and it rides rough and too much over stock and it's to stiff. I eventually went back to stock length spacers. The spacers are easy enough to change though to find your right combo. My .02 worth ...............

Ok I think the stock spacer is 3 7/8' roughly. I will probably go with 2 3/8" and see how it goes. I will get some pics up of before and after when finished. Went with sidemount radius plate and tail light and small 1" chrome bullet sigs located on rear bolt of fender struts. lots of compliments so far. The springs are being lowered and powder coated Transcluscent Grape. Hopefully it will be close to original purple color. That appeared to be the closest color of powder I could get.

Still would like to get a chrome radiator grille and different front fender and bullet sigs on front of bike. 2 projects going on at same time leaves me pretty strapped for cash...lol

Thanks a lot guys

for what it's worth, just don't go so low that the front is lower than the back. I usually stuck a small level on the bottom on the frame to check. Also allow for the front settling some when ya stand it up and get on...................

First you get good, then you get fast. Were you trying to break the search button again?:wink_2:

It really is an amazing thing.....I hit the button, typed in "lowering" and POOF!!! found the thread. It's even a sticky so it doesn't get sent to the archives.

I wasn't trying to break it again, thought maybe it was broken and tested it out. :wink_2:

I read througha couple of the post but only seen subjects about the lowering kits from Scootwerks and talk about struts. Oh well, someone helped me out.

Now, if someone could tell me any easy was of putting the spacers back in the tubes? It seemed like they were under some serious pressure when I took them out and the bike was on the jack.... Have not tried yet but assuming it is not going to be easy to get caps back on...lol

If you cut the spacers shorter the caps will go on a little easier. You may have to push on em to get them started. Be VERY careful, they cross thread if you even stare at them too hard. Try to keep even pressure on them at you get them started.

On a jack with the front wheel off of the ground?

Yes, on a bike jack with both wheels off the ground.

I am sure I can get them on, was just kind of being sarcastic about being an easier way...lol

ive read threads on lowering the front end with the pvc spacers , but
has anybody used the pvc to lengthen the forks ?
