Hi all.
I've searched the fora and couldn't find an answer.
I just bought a trailer, to put the bike on, and was wondering where, on the bike,
to securely attach the tie-down straps?
I can't find a way to attach to the frame on the front.
Is it safe to attach to the handle bar holders (the stems on the fork top bridge assy)?
What about the fork tubes as they pass between the triple tree top and bottom?
Thanks

From trailering racing motorcycles to and from the track. Attach to handlebars, with bike all the way to front of trailer compress brakes while pushinf foward. Have someone tension straps while doing it. Rear can go on struts or shocks.

my wife and I trailer our bikes from time to time I just roll em on, put em in 1st, kick stand down, front wheel to the far left and use a cinch strap across the frame between the front of seat and gas tank, cinch the crap out of it and don't drive like I stole it with never a problem...I cinch to hidden floor D-rings that are even with the middle of both bikes.....

Whatever you do, don't attach the straps to the handlebars. You'll regret it do to the rubber mounts...

where ever you strap it to,make sure the front shock is compressed to prevent it from bouncing. That is what will make one come loose is the bouncing.

I got a wheel cock I run mine into. Then I attach 2 front straps at the risers on top of the triple tree. I'll leave the kick stand down, but the bike is not leaning over. That's just in case a strap gives. I also got a set of straps that lock to the o bolt. I've had the regular ones come out when hitting a good bump.

you guys should talk to razor. he'll tell you how wrong you are to leave the kickstand down!
always, ALWAYS put your kickstand up when trailering. unless you're only goin a very short distance on real nice smooth road.
i know it seems a little counterintuitive, but razor was trailoring his bike a couple years back and hit a nasty pot hole. the suspension and tires compressed, the kick stand slammed into the bed of the trailer and presto, goodbye kickstand. it didn't fly off or anything, but it got a mean bend in it. there was no way you could lean the bike over on it. i can't remember exactly what he had to do to stand the bike up temporarily, but unless you got a chock, lift, stand or something, your bike is leaning against the wall till you get it fixed!
i usually ride my bike to where i'm goin, so i've only had to strap down a bike like maybe 3 times, but def listen to firefighter. you want to compress the suspension all the way around. front and back. but not too much or you could blow a seal or a shock valve. i'd say just over 50% or so . i'd run two straps to the bottom tree individually then one over the seat goin all the way across.

If you want irony: I bought the trailer just in case my bike broke down. A Honda breaking down??? Ha ha ha ha.
More like: in case I dumped the bike. It's like insurance, if I have a trailer nothing will happen. If I don't ....
Yeah, I know, it's bad luck to believe in superstition.

Last time I had to trailer my bike was because I ran out of gas. That ramp is probably the best thing I ever bought for my bike. Having a lowrider truck helps too.

You are asking the right question to the Wrong group .Ask HD riders they are experianced in this. The last Honda I hauled was because the dead guy could not ride his any more. Took me 2 days to sell his bike for his wife.

I trailer my bike when I go on trips with the family. With a wife and 3 kids, I have to hook up the trailer to the mini van, and take the bike with us. We may go to Michigan, Indiana, or just camping here in Ohio. As long as I have the trailer to take it with me, it gives me a way of escaping for a few hours.
There has been a few times I've convinced the wife to leave a couple days early to visit her Grandma in Michigan, and just let me ride the bike up for the weekend. She will take the trailer with the van, and on the way home, I have to trailer it back. But it's worth it, just to get to ride there.
When we go camping, I have to drive the RV, so the bike goes on the trailer till we get there. If we camp all week and I still have to work, I'll ride the bike back to town every morning. I love it. Without the trailer, the bike would be left at home on these trips.

Attach it at the grips and at the pegs. Hands on the grips, feet on the pegs!

Use a Canyon Dancer. We used these at the bike shop to deliver them everywhere. Also we didnt put smaller bikes like cbr's or ducatis on the stands, because they were fine upright, they dont weigh much, but the heavy bikes we actually cinched them down on the stand. So it was on a tripod basically. If its cinched down on the side stand, it wont slam down and bend it because the weight will already be on it.

Hey quam I ended up ordering some of those UV light strips in to see what they look like and I think that is what im going to put on mine. It is just like a black light so it makes things glow, and it puts out a really soft glow. Its a soft deep purple that should look awesome with the flat black.

I found out that using a rubber band on the front brake lever REALLY helps the bike from moving front to back. I haul mine IN my astro van. Dont have to worry about the wheather or rock chips.
