first off hello,
newbie to the sight, so far it looks great with alot of extra's that other forums don't have!!
Here's the question. Has anyone done any exhaust mods with the older shadows. I'm riding a 83 VT750C. I've read about the holesaw mod and also just drilling holes in the back baffle.
Does anyone have any experiance with this? Good or Bad
appreciate any and all comments
Thanks

Yes, it's still the stock exhaust. Any sites U recommend for parts? This year is hard to find parts for tried JCWitney and JP I found some stuff but not much
Guess there isn't much of a market for this year

Sites? Sure here's a couple...
CruiserCusomizing (http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/)
Accessories International (http://www.accessoryinternational.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=AI)
But your best bet is to find stuff on the new Hondas, and "make" them work.
For example, the hydraulic clutch handle from the 1800 fits our bikes and it's polished (mines painted black, but that's gonna change), my saddle bag bracket is made for the 1300.
I'm also going to get some foot pegs from a vlx and put 'em on my bike soon.
Things for the other models will fit, you just have to find out what will, and what you can "modify" to make it fit.
Then ofcourse if nobody makes it, then you can do what I and a few others do, make it yourself. I like the DIY approach, because you can take a little more pride in the fact the you really did make your ride your own.

Hey M@,
I have the wide chrome levers on mine and would
like to go to the black levers, how about we swap this
winter ? (I'm pretty sure they are the same, but will check)
I've already started to go black on my aluminum pieces.
Would like to go all the way with it except for a few chrome
parts for contrast.

Thanks for the info,
I'll probably end up more DIY than anything else. I've replaced alot of parts already and starting to put more "shine" on her now.
I read about drilling out the baffles, I may just try that for the exhaust.
thanks again for the info

Info, no prob, that's what we're here for.
I have an exhaust mod thread in here (http://www.shadowriders.net/forums/showthread.php?t=263), you may find that helpful, or you can check out this (http://www.shadowriders.net/holesaw.html) one too.

Oh yeah, thanks for the offer Amazn, but I want the polished reservoirs too. When I get my new ones this winter, I'll be more than happy to send you my old ones.

Welcome, js83shadow.
for your '83, www.oldbikebarn.com (http://www.oldbikebarn.com) has full staggered dual exhaust for $300 or Jardine slip-ons for $329. I'd love to know who makes the full exhaust, they're fairly cheap. I've been considering getting them myself. I've got cobra slip ons for my '88, but I don't like that the left pipe is twice as long as the right side.
On the cheap, you could drill your baffles, that's probably a good first step unless you really want to change the look.

Thanks for the info lang
looks like a great site for us classic riders
js
for what it's worth, I'm pretty sure the full exhaust sets that oldbikebarn sells are MAC's. Denniskirk.com sell's 'em too.

I have gotten a couple of parts for my 84 on Denniskirk.com. They have good prices also.
I am gonna be busy this winter as well. Lots of polishing and getting some parts chrome dipped.
