Does anyone know if you can install the Billski Tail Light Mod on the 750 without having to remove the back fender etc ?

Yes you can . It is easier to remove the fender, but you can do it .

Thanks

I thought I read in one of the older postings that it could be done. However from what I have read so far, it agrees with your assessment that it is much easier to remove the fender.

You were right Sinister. It can be done. We did two bikes Saturday. First one took about 2 hours to change over without removing the rear fender. Second one took about 6 hours, but that was because we stripped one of the hex screw heads, and the fact we were too drunk to have enough common sense to remove the fender at that point. But we did manage to remove that bad screw and change it out without removing the fender or tire.

man, you only have to loosen 4 bolts to take the fender off!!! 2 mins. tops and it would have saved you 4+ hours of work! BWAHHAHHAHAHAHHAA you learned your lesson:)

Now you see that takes a certain degree of common sense and intelligence, which all of us here are desparetly lacking. The noive to suggest we do something in a few minutes when we can spend hours doing the same thing!

What is this world coming to ?

I just ordered my Billski yesterday. I think I will take the fender off to do it. I also ordered the scootworks 1.5 inch lowering kit.

That is the intelligent way to do it. We didnt because we were too stubborn (drunk) and wanted to see if it could be done. But we also did not take the fender off because we had saddle bags and air horns connected behind the bags. The amount of work would have been a lot more than if you just had the fender.

Still, with all that said, it would probably have been a lot faster if we just took all that stuff off and did it the right way.

Watch out for those bolts under the fender. Mine came off really easy, but the other bike one was so tight that we ended up stripping the head, and had to drill it out.

But they are nicer than that stock lunch box.

If you would have finished fast, you could not have enjoyed getting drunk while working on it.

YOUR ABSOLUTELY RIGHT !

Actually we got lucky. Two of our younger team members showed up and we got them drunk as well, then conned them into finishing installing the lights. We sat back and drank - er I mean Supervised - while they did all the work!

One more thing about the Billski Mod. The light bulb that comes with it sucks. Mine went out in less than two days, and apparently, reading other forums, this is very common. The other bike we did is still working fine though.

The stock bulb it comes with is much smaller than the typical 1157. I tried to replace the exact bulb size, and found it nearly impossible. So I sent Billski an email and he responded :

"A replacement bulb can be found at almost any autoparts store. Just tell

them you need an 1157 bulb that is no more than 25 watts. It's bigger than

the bulb that comes with the light but it works perfectly.

You can even use the bulb from your stock Honda taillight."

-----

So keep that in mind if your bulb goes out like mine.

Hopefully you'll be lucky and not have to worry about it.

The exact replacement bulb has these part numbers: OEM# 122-9603 (Bulb T/S Dual Fil)
SKU# 161629
I was able to get one from "Parts Canada" so I'm sure one of those number will help you down south of the border.

Good to know!..It will keep my stress level down when the bulb blows..

Darn! Wish I would have known that a couple weeks ago. I did end up using my old tail lightbulb and it has been working fine so far.
