hey all, got a problem with my forks. they are dropping about 2 inches when I sit on the bike. from there is where I am getting my front suspension which is HARSH!!! I am running rigid in the rear. here's what happened.
bout a week ago everything was cool. I had the ACE fork covers on the bike and the ride was good. I switched to the Billski fork sleeves so I took the forks off the bike, laid them down, put on the sleeves and slid them back up in. now, the front end is saggin like a mother. I did not take the forks apart, just slid them off the bike. Did this to put the ACE covers on also. Have no idea why this would have just happened suddenly. Anyone have any ideas how to correct it???? week ago it was golden, now the ride is fuckin killin me. It is HARSH with no rear or front suspension! help me!!! thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

Have you emailed billski ? I have no idea . Did you leak any fork oil ? Does anything sound loose ? It is normal to loose a little hieght when you sit on the bike . It stops after 2" of travel ? Shouldent you have more travel ? Are both forks binding or just one ? I know you are frustrated but a little more to work with might help since the bike is not infront of us .

thanks for replying Sinister. I took the forks apart today and everything seemed fine. The spacers are in good shape, the springs look good and I am assuming the oil is good. No oil leaked when I took them off to change to the billski fork sleeves. I used to have the ACE sleeves so I really could not see how much the forks were dropping when I sat on the bike because they covered the forks. I am going entirely on the way the bike feels when I ride it. It has become MUCH more harsh than when I had the Ace covers on. I can really tell a difference and now that I see the font end drop when I sit on it I am assuming that is the problem.
Guess I might try the stealer and see how much to change the oil and shit in them. the front end drops about 1.5" when I sit on. It doesn;t stop after that 1.5"but the lower the front end the less suspension you have. I just dont know if it dropping 1.5" is normal or not??? I never noticed it before but I really notice a difference in the ride. It's killin my back:) anyway, thanks for any ideas.

My front end drops about an inch and a half when I sit on the bike. I don't think that is uncommon. If you rock the bike forward with the front break on do you still have good travel in the front suspension?

CROACH,
yes when I rock it back and forth I DO still have suspension. The ride just feels a lot worse since I have switched from fork covers to fork sleeves. Maybe I just didnt notice it? I am at a loss. I will have a mechanic look at it and give me his opinion. It is good to know that it it normal for the front end to drop a little. maybe I just never saw it or noticed it before. who knows!!!!
