This is a big job, and I know it's a long shot, but has anyone chopped and raked their own fork?

I'm really just curious - one of those things that I'd love to do down the road, but too scared shitless to try.

I know you can have it done but I think it runs about $700-$900.I wouldnt want to do it myself for saftey reasons you need someone that welds frames to do it.

I'm in the process of doing exactly that right now. Picked up 14" over Fork tube extensions from forks by frank in Chicago 847-475 1003 $243 removed the stock rear shock and lowered the shit out of the bike and it looked great now I'm halfway through my 250 rear tire mods i'll update with pics later when I'm complete. Whatever you do you do not want to screw around with the neck BAD Idea!! Leav it to the pro's

well here is what i've learned so far...... the best anyone can do to a shadow front fork without using raked triple trees is 8" over... anything beyond that and it looks kinda silly.. the whole front will be raised and no longer parallel to the ground but it is still do-able if you dont mind looking silly. I'm gonna have to go to raked triple trees to really use my 14" over forks. 250 tire and rim showed up today so me and my welder are going to be kinda busy for the next couple days!! more to come on this

Step #1 replaced the stock fork tubes with the 14" overs.....came up with a crazy but neat idea....leave 6" above the top triple tree and mount another top tree mount with custom handle bars...gives it the high handle bar look and alows the relocation of the side blinkers..hmmmmhttp://pictures.sprintpcs.com/mi/86427081_294065847_0.jpeg?inviteToken=TE2r4o2TYzhMQhLL0oNL&limitsize=250,250&outquality=90&squareoutput=255,255,255&ext=.jpg

I started a new thread named 250 rear modification so as not to clutter the original intent of this thread. Those of you who still wanna keep up with the rear mods link up to the new thread and let's get through this on cut and weld at a time.
