hello all, 1st post here and just bought a 2003 spirit 750 1 week ago. its my 1st street bike.

anyhow, my shadow gets 75 miles per tank than i have to hit the reserve(i found out the hard way on the e-way @75 mph). what are you all getting? i expected a bit more...around 150 miles per tank. the bike is bone stock also.

thanks -jay

Mine is getting about 180 kms to a tank, and then on to reserve aproximately 113 miles. I'm running an open intake with #42 slow jets and 138/135 jets so I'm a little above stock on the fuel consumption.
Were there any modifications done to the intake or exhaust on the bike? You should be getting better then 75 miles to a tank.

BTW, welcome to the site!

I have an '03 750 too. If I remember correctly I need to fill up somewhere around 130 miles to the tank.

thanks for the "fuck off" welcome!!!! i feel right at home!!

no mods have been done that i know of. bought the bike at a dealer.

everything is stock.

so 75 miles per tank is low i see.

what the hell could be the problem?

For a stock bike that seems way off. If there is any warranty on it bring it back and tell them.

Hopefully Nav, aka Carboy, pops in he or Machinehead can probably point you in the right direction.

I'll need more info to go on, but first I have to ask how you are filling the tank. Do you stop the pump before the gas is up in the filler neck? While this shouldn't make that much difference, 75 miles before reserve is terrible. That's the lowest MPG I've ever heard of with a 750 Spirit. Are you using 5th gear? Something is definitely not right. If the dealer you bought it from has a reputable service shop, I'd be riding it back over there first chance I got. My wife's bone stock '03 750 Spirit gets well over 100 miles before reserve.

i could be riding in tth wrong gear. i cruise at 45 mph in 4th i believe...shit mabye even 3rd. mabye i shoud be in 5th. mabye i am staying in the powerband to much.

i will report back when i run out again..we will see what happens.

any the fuel level was up into the filler neck.

thanks -jay

2003 ss750 cobra exhaust baffles still in,intake stock no mods, nothing has been
done to carbs not even mixture screws.rear no mods except lowering.
1-in town driving about 120-125 miles per tank, before hitting reserve.
2-on highway 5-th gear, only get 80 miles per tank before reserve.
AND I FILL UP PAST FILLER NECK.
IS THIS GOOD,OR NOT--i know i should rejett but not till this winter for the winter
mods.

I have the ACE 750 but it should be about the same. I have done a bean box mod. Rejetted to 138 and 134 if I remember correctly and run 2" drag pipes without baffles. I hit reserve at about 140 miles and I am good for another 25 for sure after that. Never tried to push is any further than that.

I have stock '05 ss750 and don't hit the reserve until about 130-135. I always fill up around 120.

I consistantly get 50-60 miles PER gallon, depending how hard I push it, wind, etc. 37 tooth sprocket made a difference as well...........................

I have the same year model as yours. I consistently get 90 miles before having to switch to reserve. That is lower than most of the other guys I ride with, as they usually have to switch around 100.

They all tell me its because I'm too fucking fat. The Noive of those guys !!! I aint fat, just slightly PLUMP.

Yes, take your bike to the shop and have them check it out. 75 miles per tank really sucks.

ok,since i posted originally that i was getting 75 miles per tank ,i re-fuled and reset my trip meter and started from the top of a freshly filled tank and now i am getting 137 miles to a tank before i have to go to reserve.

someone had hit my trip reset button while i wasnt looking and that is why i thought i was getting 75mpt.

thanks -jay

I have a 04 Shadow Aero. In town riding I am getting 66/mpg with cobra 2" drag pipes on her. Out on highway I am getting 80/mpg. I do have to say I have never let her hit reserve. Before putting on my pipes & rejetting I got 60/mpg.
