This noob just read through the whole tires thread and it seems everyone that upgrades their tires must be spirit 750 owners that have spokes in their wheels. So what do us 1100 spirit owners with solid wheels do if we want a wider rear wheel or tire? Screwed! I can't find anyone who sells a wider tire than a 170 for a 15" rim. Or a tire wider than 110 for a 19" rim. :furious2:
I also haven't been able to find anyone who has installed the rear disc brakes from a sabre on the spirit, anyone else hear of that crazy idea being done?

I was gonna' start by picking up a front spoker off Fegs '05 Sabre for my '07 Spirit, but the Stealer said it would screw my warranty to go with anything but new OEM ($$$ that I don't have). You're in a good position to be the guinea pig (I mean innovator) for the rest of us solid stockers, so please post if you find a solution that doesn't cost a grand. I'd love to change out my rims and go with wider rear rubber. Sorry no help here.
By the Way - Fegs still has a good deal on a front spoke wheel with Metz tire on the 'for sale or wanted' thread - here:

I dug up some info that says you can put a 200/70/15 tire on a stock 3.5 inch rim or another option would be to re-lace a 4.5 inch VTX rim to a stock 1100 hub to make it look even wider. I don't know whether issues with swing-arm and brake linkage clearance would come into play, but maybe here's a place to start.

Looks like thats for the 750's. The 1100's are quite different (solid wheels, shaft drive, etc)

My bad. I was just trying to help-out a fellow 1100 rider since we're in the minority here. How about the 200/70/15 tire on a 3.5 wheel idea? Sounds like that might get you a fatter look. I searched google for "1100 shadow rear wheel upgrade" and those are 2 of the links that came up, but there were others. Best of luck.

The aero comes with spoked rims. So if you got the hub from a spoked aero rim you could possibly lace it to a vtx rim or any rim for that matter as long as you have the clearence. there is a video on youtube of a guy with an 1100 shaft drive and a 300 tire. i dont know how exactly but he did it. I have been wondering this for awhile myself but dont have the funds to try it.

im guessing a swap over from shaft drive to chain on my 1995 VT1100C would be a big chunk of money i'd rather have 5 speed and wider tire but funds are a problem. i'm still trying to figure out why in the hell Honda would use a4 speed anyhow.
