85 shadow 700 carb help

I took my carb apart today to clean and now all back together except there is on one side i thnik it looks likes a pump it is on the rear brake side.. The hose attaches to this pump and the hose has a spring around it where does the other end go????? Please help I took pictures to put carb back together but never on the bike...... I have lloked everywhere to where it goes I think it maybe work on pressure or vaccuum form the cylinders........

Help me out here pleas...

First of all...welcome to the nuthouse!:rolleyes5

Now to your problem...If I understand your description correctly, I believe you have just described the "Air cut off valve" hose. That was used on California models, and there should be a vacuum hose routing label on one of the side covers.
I have an 86 VT700 and the only line I can see that has a spring around it, runs right up into the coolant filler neck right before the thermostat housing.
I know, I know, that's no help, but maybe Lang, or SeaBass will jump in here and throw in their .02 worth.

Alright maybe it is off the vacuum control but where does the other end go to?

Maybe the other carb on the left hand side... Again when you sit on your bike it is on your right hand side....

Also are there any website etc for the shadows parts etc.. I am in need of choke cable mine is froze up...

I can't help you on the carbs, but for the cable, try bikebandit.com or your local dealer.

Also, ebay has a '84 vt700 choke cable for sale. Check the schematics on bikebandit.com and see if it's identical to your '85
