Just bought this 2005 Ducati and want to touch up the header pipe (as seen in the photo.

Question is what do you think would look best...

Black Paint -

Black Header Wrap -

Also, if paint can be a solution anybody have success with a high temp paint on a header pipe? What and where did you get it? I see a few high temp paints but dont want to get something that doesnt perform and makes a mess....hence me sitting on the fence with wrap....

What do you guys think??? paint/wrap?

Yo Muda, did you use the High Temp Silicone Spray on the wrap when you were done? How long did it take you? I have a few areas on this Ducati where I have to go around joints and connectors so Im sure it will get interesting....

Looks good on your pipes man, cant wait to get this done....I picked up a roll of 2" black on my home tonight, heading into a long weekend here,,,,might get a chance to go at it....

Cheers

It took me prolly 30-45 min. I kept unwrapping it and did it over to make the bends look right. Yea I painted the black silicon spray on it afterwards. Suppost to make it more ressistant to chemicals. I got it wet before I put in on. Think I prolly got it too wet, real messy. I let it idle a while in the driveway. It smoked a little and stunk for about a week when it got hot. But not any more.

Oh forgot, I didnt use the fancy stainless straps, they were hard to get right. I just used hose clamps.

I'd say wrap em. It will make em look thicker, allso better (in my opinion).

They will smell funny for a while! You can also touch up the wrap with the paint if it gets a little ratty. I used picture hanging wire to secure mine. Just dunk the wrap in some water and go slow. Wear rubber gloves! Don't wrap it too tight. It will shrink a little. Thermo Tech sells a special paint for header wrap.

either way would look great, i have built several pig cookers and what i do is paint it black then get the metal very hot and take crisco cooking oil and put a think layer of oil on it. keep it hot for about 30 - 60 min. then when it dries and cools, it will never come off plus it has a coating on it that is exteamly tuff. just an idea figured i would throw that out there. a noob

well got the wrap done...turned out decent...also blacked out some other areas of the pipe. Have ordered a fender eliminator and led light...also some round bar end mirrors...hopefully will get here soon...now that my Spirit is about done, this monster is my blank canvas....any other ideas/suggestions?

Not as easy modified as the SS750

If you want to paint, high temp engine paint from your auto store works great.
